Excited for SROWcean's '11 at LSU in 2011!

Today was a BUSY day. We moved the Office of Orientation into a new building on campus, and I experienced my first LSU Ambassador meeting. It was a crazy experience - I knew about them and had already started the process of getting acclimated to the organization, but I had no idea what a meeting or what having the majority of the "AMBs" in one room looked like. There are over 125 members in the LSU Ambassadors, so it was like seeing a large Tri Sigma chapter all in one room (it's the only comparison I have to draw on...). They work very efficiently, and their Council Board members have worked SO hard all summer to get to this meeting.

There was also a HUGE surprise that I've been holding in for like 3 weeks (and secrets are no fun!). LSU has been selected to host the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop in March 2011! The Office has been working tirelessly prior to my arrival compiling their proposal to host the conference, and they found out that they were selected recently. This is a HUGE regional conference for Region VI of the National Orientation Directors Association. Orientation representatives from all over the South come to a host school and attend different workshops, meet and connect with people from other schools and learn all they can about life in Orientation for the upcoming summer. I attended SROW in 2005 at Clemson University and it was probably one of the best experiences I had as an undergraduate. Hopefully I will be able to get involved with hosting and organizing a professional conference! Very exciting!
