Here we go again...

So, this is my 100 billonth attempt at writing a blog.

I figured I should try to chronicle my time at LSU. I did a pretty stinky job of it as a consultant. I am awful at doing things like keeping in touch with friends and family on the phone, taking pictures with my digital camera, etc. General "memory keeping," you know? I have a tendency to remember most everything, so I just...don't do these things. And then I lose track of time, and realize it's been over a week since I talked to my mom or a month since I talked to my closest friends. It's a TERRIBLE habit! And then people get mad at me...vicious cycle.

So, I'm trying! It's not for a lack of love for the people in various areas of my life. I keep telling people I'm going to do better at keeping in touch, but I'm never successful. But I'm making another effort, and I am well aware of my flaw, if that helps at all.

To get to the point, I've had a pretty good summer getting settled at LSU. There were definitely challenges! As you can imagine, the culture is still something I am adjusting to along with the weather. This university is in flux in so many ways, so it's been interesting to see the issues that different departments are facing. Be it budgeting, space and scheduling, strategic planning or reevaluating effects on the Flagship Agenda for LSU - there are a lot of areas that could change drastically at a moment's notice. I imagine FIU is going through similar issues with the change of University Presidents on Friday.

I've also enjoyed my first two classes so far! The material seems really interesting, and I am excited to really dive into it. More on this a bit later...

I am a graduate assistant with the Office of Orientation, and I will be working with the LSU Ambassadors this year. They are a student organization whose main purpose is to "Recruit, Orient and Advise." They are a dedicated, hard-working and sometimes intense bunch! My supervisor is always saying that they are a full-time job in themselves, so I may have my work cut out for me. They've been INCREDIBLY welcoming, and I can't wait to see how their year unfolds. They'll be receiving some AMAZING news in about an hour. I'll post about that later, too!
